Business card printing in Doha: sizes, paper and finishes

What size to choose, which paper feels premium, what matt, gloss and spot UV really look like, and how to send your artwork so the cards print right the first time.

A business card is still the first thing you hand over in a meeting in Qatar. Ordering one should be simple, but the words printers use can be confusing. This guide explains each choice so you know exactly what you are asking for.

What size is a business card?

Most business cards printed in Qatar are 90 × 55 mm. You will also see 85 × 55 mm, which is the common European size. Both fit standard wallets and card holders. If you are reprinting an existing card, measure it and tell us, so the new cards match the old ones.

Paper: how thick should it be?

Card thickness is measured in gsm, the same as paper. A thin card feels cheap however good the design is.

  • 300 gsm is the usual starting point: firm and economical.
  • 350 to 400 gsm feels noticeably more solid and is what most companies choose.
  • Extra-thick and textured boards are for premium cards where the feel of the card is part of the brand.

Finishes explained

  • Matt lamination gives a smooth, non-shiny surface. It looks modern and does not show fingerprints.
  • Gloss lamination makes colours brighter and suits cards with photos.
  • Soft-touch (velvet) lamination feels like suede. People notice it as soon as they hold the card.
  • Spot UV adds a shiny raised layer on selected parts only, usually the logo, over a matt card.
  • Foil in gold or silver adds a metallic logo or name.

A popular combination is matt lamination on both sides with spot UV on the logo. It looks premium without a big jump in cost.

Arabic and English on one card

Many companies in Qatar print English on one side and Arabic on the other. If you do this, keep the logo in the same position on both sides and check the Arabic spelling of names and job titles carefully before printing. Send us the Arabic text typed, not as a photo, so nothing is retyped by hand.

What to put on the card

Keep it to what someone needs to contact you: name, job title, company, mobile, email, website and location. A QR code that opens your WhatsApp or website is useful and takes little space. Leave empty space around the text. A crowded card is hard to read.

How to send your artwork

If you have a designer, ask for a print-ready PDF with:

  • 3 mm bleed on every side, so colour runs to the edge after cutting,
  • text at least 3 mm inside the edge,
  • CMYK colour, with images at 300 dpi,
  • fonts converted to outlines.

No designer? Send us your logo and details and we will prepare the layout for your approval before anything is printed.

How many should you order?

The price per card drops as the quantity goes up, because most of the cost is in setting up the job. If your details are unlikely to change, a larger quantity is better value. For new staff or a new office address, start with a smaller batch.
